I’ve had this idea I’ve been thinking about for the latter part of 2011. Each year I have offered at least one round of special Mini Sessions. Sometimes a few rounds. And I love them. I really do. I love how simplified they are. Quick, painless, easy. We go out, have a blast, snap some photos, laugh a ton. And then it’s over. Usually I hear a ‘I hope you got at least one good one’ as we part ways and I just smile inside. More like a smirk, actually. Because I know it’s ASTOUNDING what I can capture on just 2 rolls of Film. The more I think about it, the more I realize it’s the very nature of a condensed timeframe which allows for such an intense burst of authenticity and spontaneity that I get to capture all sorts of organic moments. Of course, my full Portrait Sessions are geared towards taking our time to create a lot of great images, and variety, and we move to change things up and keep things moving and cover all the bases that a custom portrait session ought. With this Mini Sessions, parts of the recipe remain the same and I really get to hone in on and focus on how a family connects with one another. And that doesn’t take a lot of time. You can think of it as the pared down Board Book version of the longer Full Unabridged Version that my longer Portrait Sessions offer.
Plus, there are only so many weekends to be had in a year (52, to be exact), which tend to fill up pretty quickly (especially late Summer until Thanksgiving). I want to make great photography MORE available, not more exclusive. I want to provide MORE opportunities for clients with more options and variety.
So Weekday Simple Sessions were born.
And they are BRAND SPANKING NEW for this year starting January 1st and I am really excited. It’s like having the opportunity to get a round of Mini Sessions in twice a week. Hip, honest, fun, affordable sessions with a focus on lifestyle family photography on Weekdays- Monday through Thursday. Plus you get two options on Sessions which include a sweet bundle of goodies.

The nature of my job is simple. The love of a family is simple and miraculous. So much of our life we can make so complicated. In photographing families I get to witness them in a very real and intimate way. The longer I do this, the more I realize it doesn’t take a lot of time, or styling, or props, or gimmicks, or themes, or whatever, to capture the incredible stories of the relationships that make up each family. The goal is to capture the people and the love and the connection to one another that you’ll really want to remember.
